Vintage Notes: The 2016 vintage is the last of Napa's recent drought years. Another low yield, early vintage with wonderful concentration of bright, fresh fruit flavor and full of richness and body. Gamble Sauvignon Blanc is always the first in the barn for us. In fact, it would be almost a full month before we brought our next grapes to the winery. Late spring rains helped recharge the soil profile giving a strong start to the season and mild temperatures in August allowed for outstanding flavor development and retention of acid. 2016's moderate yields and ideal temperatures are apparent with the expressive fruit flavors and freshness showing in the glass.
Tasting Notes: This wine is a delight from start to finish. Its expressive nose of key lime, fresh fig, citrus blossoms and freesia is preparation for the clean, juicy flavors of white grapefruit, tart green apple and white peach in the glass. Bright and mouthwatering, the wine is knit together by aging in barrel sur-lie yielding powdery notes of Jordan almond and bringing weight and a savory note to the fruit centered finish.
2016 marks our 7th vintage working with this wonderful fruit from Gamble's Certified Organic Vineyard. Our Clone 22 Sauvignon Blanc grapes grow in rocky, well-drained soils resulting in an energetic and flavorful wine.
